Nestled in Hope: Turning Compassion into Action

Every brushstroke tells a story. This winter, my painting Nestled in Hope marks the 38th year of The Honor Card—a project that began with a simple question: How can art make a difference? 

What started as an effort to fight homelessness has grown into a movement that helps families stay in their homes. Partnering with Community Housing Solutions, this initiative repairs roofs, replaces floors, restores dignity, and rekindles hope. I’ve seen firsthand how small acts of compassion—like helping my friend James Canady—can transform a life. His journey from homelessness to homeownership embodies the spirit of this painting: the beauty of second chances.
